Covid update and Spring 2021 batch
In this newsletter:
- Lockdown
- Deadline for placing orders extended
- Webshop troubles
Hello sailor!
As the world keeps struggling with how to best deal with the covid virus, yours truly and family are also in lockdown. As a result I have a lot less workshop time available than I would like, or even need. This makes it hard to get production hours in and that means I have had to prioritize workshop time to extremes.
Website updated and the shop is working again
Hello Sailor!
After a lot of puzzling it appears that the webshop is working again.
Apparently during the update process, today as well as with the the previous update, some alterations that had been done at the moment of installation earlier this year were reversed.
After making those changes again it now seems that all is back in working order.
If you have tried to place an order recently and failed, would you please try again?
Thanks for your patience!
Best regards,
Sven
A new Navik replacement part becomes available
Hello sailor!
A few weeks back I was contacted by a customer who's boat had been hit while docked.
His Navik pendulum rudder was severely damaged.
"Can you fix it?"
The biggest damage was to the paddle, which was broken in three places. From the pictures it looked to be repairable and repairing it would still be cheaper than finding a complete second hand Navik.
Whilst doing the repairs I had a lot of opportunity to think about how to manufacture a new blade, if that were the only way to fix the situation.
Handling and shipping of Navik parts
Hello sailor!
This year has seen a lot of parcels with Navik parts go missing or get damaged.
To try and turn this around I will need to make some changes.

WoodenB entering prototype stage
Hello Sailor!
The last general newsletter gave me some good feedback and it still seems worth while to pursue the development of WoodenB.
The programming is ready for the first trial runs I plan to make the first prototype parts once the schools start again.
I will take pictures as I go along, to be able to give you a better view of how you would receive the parts and what tasks would need to be completed.

One question that was asked following the last general newsletter was if WoodenB would be sold as a set of plans, for a super low price.
Not self steering a path towards 2021?
Hello Sailor!
As the world is struggling with very big issues, individuals, businesses and organisations have their own struggles, big and small.
Some have nothing to do, some have too much normal work or too much work they do not want.
For me the current situation is not too hard, but I am looking at the near future, figuring out my options.
New self steering systems on the drawing board
Hello sailor!
It is a weird situation the world is in right now.
One group is fighting for their life, a second group is fighting together with the first group whilst a lot of people try to keep things running as best they can.
I am keeping a keen eye on developments here in the Netherlands, to see if I can lend a hand in urgent manufacturing, but at the same time, I can also spend a lot of time on the development of ideas.
