- New variant of Y&B. What to call it?
- New self steering system in the works

Hello sailor!

With the 2021 batch out the door it is quite a remarkable moment in time for Mister Vee.
Right around this time in 2006 I started shipping the first Mr. Vane xprmntl systems, Mister Vee is turning 15 this year!

I'm thinking of ways to celebrate this.
If you have any suggestions, please let me know!

* New shop has been activated *

The mayor kinks have been ironed out and the new shop is now accessible.
A link is further down this email.
If you have any comments on the overall workings of the shop, please let me know, I welcome your feedback!

In the new shop you will find 3 self steering options. Besides Y&B there are not 1 but 2 new offerings!

* New variant of Y&B *

If you read earlier newsletters, you may know that I did a lot of design work on WoodenB, "the Plywood version of Y&B" but could not get the numbers to work.
But the processes I had planned for WoodenB should work for Y&B too.

After some number crunching, I would like to present to you the yet unnamed DIY variant of Y&B:
The KIT.
This system uses the pendulum rudder developed for WoodenB. All other parts are the same as used in Y&B but they come to you completely unfinished, straight from machining.
Everything is aimed at getting the system to you with the lowest possible price tag but still remaining good quality.

That means that:
- Parts (may) come un-assembled and covered in dust
- All parts still have burrs and sharp edges that need to be softened with sandpaper
- All glass fiber is bare and could do with some paint (but this can be delayed)
- The stainless steel parts are unpolished and need to be passified with citric acid to reduce the chance of corrosion as much as possible.
- The pendulum rudder needs to be built from included pre-shaped plywood pieces and supplied carbon fiber tube, using epoxy.

After finishing the system, the only real difference with Y&B is the pendulum rudder, and the finish you have been able to give it.

* New super light weight self steering system: BoB *

Because Mister Vee has its roots in small boat sailing, I have always had a focus on delivering budget friendly self steering solutions.
But budget friendliness often requires decisions that do not suit everyone.

I looked at feature request that were made through the years, and if there were ways I could improve on Y&B when letting go of the focus on affordability.

BoB is about to enter prototype stage, which is focused on saving weight and increasing functionality and performance.
Because I think this new system may influence decision making for potential customers, I have already added it to the shop for pre-order, so the systems can be compared.

If you miss a feature in any of the systems, I'd love to hear from you!

The new shop has the option of comparing systems side by side, please check the link below.

If you have any questions or remarks, please reply to this email.

Best regards,
Sven
