Mister Vee taking a break

Hello sailor!

After 18 years of manufacturing windvane self steering, your Mister Vee needs a break.
I have decided to take a sabbatical as far as manufacturing of the complete windvane self steering systems is concerned.

Replacement parts for both Mister Vee and Navik will still be (made) available throughout 2024, but the next batch of self steering systems is planned for spring 2025.

If you have any questions or remarks on this topic, please let me know.

Kind regards,
Sven

Brexit consequences

As part of leaving the EU, the United Kingdom has also left the European common market. There no longer is any free movement of goods from the EU to the UK, and that also goes for products from Mister Vee.

As far as Mister Vee was concerned it seemed the UK would be just like any other country outside the EU. Unfortunately this is not the case.
The UK now requires a company that ships to the UK to actually collect VAT for the UK treasury, on any order below a certain amount, GBP 135,-- in this case.

Hello sailor!

With the 2021 batch out the door it is quite a remarkable moment in time for Mister Vee.
Right around this time in 2006 I started shipping the first Mr. Vane xprmntl systems, Mister Vee is turning 15 this year!

I'm thinking of ways to celebrate this.
If you have any suggestions, please let me know!

Alternative to WoodenB and Y&B?

Hello sailor!

Working on the concept of WoodenB over the past year has opened up a possibility to deliver a more affordable version of the Y&B self steering system to you.

To compare the options I've put together an overview, available from the link below.

One of the differences you will see there is that the parts come to you unfinished, mostly straight from machining.

The biggest "but" in that concept is that it may prove hard to DIY finish stainless steel to a level that is not only nice to the touch, but also offers sufficient corrosion resistance.

Price increase for Navik parts

Hello sailor!

Since the start of making replacement parts for Navik in 2010 I chose to more or less stay at the level of pricing that Plastimo had for their offerings, only adjusting prices with inflation.
I could make some money on it because of the manufacturing time I could sell this way, and I also saw a benefit in offering the Navik parts besides my own self steering systems.
Besides that, I really enjoyed making the parts and still do to this day.

However, the joy of selling these parts has dwindled, in a really unexpected way:
